I am constantly reminded how much my children need me to be present in their daily activities. They remember the smallest little details!
As we were driving to Jasper, Chesney recalling a previous trip to Drumheller. He didn't talk about the dinosaur museum or staying in a hotel. He was recalling how Scott was pretending to not know that a statue of a dinosaur was there and falling over. Making the kids giggle in fits of laughter. He was giggling so hard telling us about this moment. "It just a tail!" I smiled because all the things we think the kids will remember, sometimes they remember the smallest things.
I like to talk about the day before bed with the kids. Its awesome to hear what each one of them remember and felt was important from the day! Our last day trip, a few days ago, to the mountains, both boys said, excitedly "We went swimming in the big water!" We waded ankle deep in a lake! We didn't even get all wet! This is what they remembered from the day!
So be present and cherish the little moments with your kids. Put your phone down and get off social media. Take the time to enjoy the moment and be present for your kids.
